The Best Neighbor!

Over and over again, people have said that their neighbors are one of the best things about the neighborhood. The place is much more that just welcoming and friendly.

It’s a community of being known and knowable. We want to remember one of those neighbors …

Linda Mealing began gardening at the age of 7, and devoted many years of working in her home community. Linda was a part of the West Willow Neighborhood Association (NWWNA) for almost 3 decades. Understating the importance of sharing food, Linda also did Meals on Wheels as well as Meals at Hope Clinic, with First Baptist Church of Ypsilanti.

Linda’s community went beyond West Willow, she had traveled to Haiti and Puerto Rico to provide disaster aid. Recently, Linda had worked with an intergenerational program that connected elders with youth by building relationships through gardening.

Linda always gave praise and glory to her Lord and Savior who filled her life with purpose as she shared HIS LOVE by loving one another. In memory of Linda Mealing who passed away on April 21, 2025 at the age of 75, she will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives.
